In June 2008, His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios of America led a pilgrimage, under the aegis of FAITH: An Endowment for Orthodoxy and Hellenism, accompanying the official visit of His All Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew to Rome for the Feast of the Chiefs of the Apostles, Peter and Paul.
During this historic pilgrimage, the participants attended a number of official events and services and, as an honor extended to Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, Archbishop Demetrios and the members of the pilgrimage were introduced by His All Holiness to Pope Benedict XVI, during a private audience – indeed an unforgettable occasion.
