Happy New Year!
We began this year celebrating thirty of our community’s most promising young leaders at the 4th Annual FAITH Scholars Luncheon on January 7th in New York City. We enjoyed meeting new FAITH Scholars as well as welcoming the familiar faces. Throughout the afternoon, the attendees expressed their gratitude for the support and network provided by the FAITH Scholarship program and shared how their heritage and our Founders’ example of philanthropy and leadership have influenced their academic pursuits, career aspirations and civic-mindedness.
In addition to their academic accomplishments, FAITH Scholars have showed a passion for improving the world: from traveling to Lesvos, Greece to provide supplies to refugee children and families to working with a Greek Orthodox church in Uganda to teach English at a primary school. It was encouraging and inspiring to learn how these young leaders are prioritizing a sustainable and more accessible world such as through studying alternative energy, developing a multi-component tobacco treatment training program in Greece, spearheading an initiative to increase mental health resources for women and advocating for autism awareness through film.
After an afternoon spent meeting with these extraordinary young leaders of our community, I am happy to share that the future looks very bright. We thank our Founders for their generous support of FAITH. Their enduring examples of excellence, achievement and leadership have inspired the success of these young trail blazers.
