Celebrating FAITH Scholars Graduating this Year

For our FAITH Scholar Class of 2018, this month marks the monumental end of their college undergraduate careers. Throughout the years we have watched these young leaders use their talents, creativity and character to achieve academic success, make meaningful contributions to their campuses and remain deeply rooted in their Hellenic heritage through inspiration drawn from leaders within the Greek community.

We are pleased to highlight graduates representing this extraordinary class of FAITH Scholars and extend a heartfelt congratulations to all FAITH Scholars graduating this year as they continue their path of success and embark on their next chapters

Kassandra Ibrahim; 2018 FAITH Scholar
Art History, Fordham University

Kassandra graduated Summa Cum Laude with minors in Orthodox Christian Studies, Italian and Catholic Studies. She was an Adrienne Arsht intern in the European Paintings department at The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Department of Visitor Experience and Engagement intern for the Brooklyn Museum. As an intern for the Fordham Department of Art, she managed and authored content for the department's blog. Her other work includes an internship in the Orthodox Christian Studies department, a curatorial position at the Alfa Art gallery and social media manager and photographer for CrossRoad Summer Institute. After graduation, she will work in Education at the Frick Collection in New York.

 

Arianna Kohilakis; 2018 FAITH Scholar
Applied Economics & Management and Information Science, Cornell University

Arianna graduates with work experience that includes serving as as the Tobacco Control Research Associate for the European Commission in Athens, Greece, the Healthcare Consultant for Aravind Eye Hospitals in India, the Front-End Developer at Suri & Huacaya, the Managing Director of the Cornell Consulting Group and the Head of Fundraising at Gane.com. Back on campus, she was active in the Business Advisory Council, Cornell Business Analytics, Student Agencies Tutoring GM, Dyson Undergraduate Council and was a teaching assistant and aide in an Information Science Lab. She was a Summer Business Analyst at McKinsey & Company last summer, where she will return full-time.

Melina Mitsogiorgakis; 2018 FAITH Scholar
Integrated Engineering, Arts & Sciences, Lehigh University

Following a summer researching and designing wind turbines, Melina interned at the University of Ljubljana in Slovenia where she studied the physics and applications of daylight radiation cooling. Additionally she completed mentorships with NOAA ecologists. On campus, she was president of Orthodox Christian Fellowship, volunteered as a note-taker for Disability Support Services and was active in the in the Hellenic club, Middle Eastern Student Union and the art, architecture & design. Melina is an incoming Applications Engineer at Lutron Electronics.

 

Christian Potter; 2018 FAITH Scholar and 2018 Peter T. Kikis Memorial FAITH Scholar
Public and International Affairs, Princeton University

Christian is a recipient of the Pyne Prize—the highest general distinction given to Princeton undergraduates. Along with serving as president of the Undergraduate Student Government, Christian chaired the debating society and was a peer academic adviser and fellow at the Center for International Security Studies. Christian’s work experience includes legislative internships in the U.S. House of Representatives and House Democratic Caucus and research positions at The Brookings Institutions, the Department of Politics Faculty and the National Archives in Washington D.C. Christian is an Incoming Business Analyst at McKinsey’s in Washington, D.C. and aspires to attend law school to study policy issues at the federal level.

 

Alexander Sietsema; 2018 FAITH Scholar
Mathematics and Data Science, Michigan State University

Alexander studied permutation statistics in world-renewed mathematician Dr. Bruce Sagan’s lab where he published three papers in the Discrete Mathematics Journal. In collaboration with the Los Alamos National Lab, he conducted research on X-ray/CT tomography and his research on a reconstruction algorithm earned him a place in the UCLA Computational and Applied Mathematics Research Experience. With the Department of Mathematics Exchange program, Alexander developed a data classification algorithms and received the Department Award and Outstanding Poster from the Joint Mathematics Meetings Poster Session. Alexander is a first year Ph.D. student at UCLA.

James Tsatsaros; 2018 FAITH Scholar
Math & Computer Science & Classics, Brown University

James was the data analytics intern for the Revolutionary Integration Group—a tech start-up designing artificial intelligence integration services for healthcare infrastructure. For over three year he gained experience designing SQL database structures and working with probabilistic models. Along with competing in the Brown University Datathon and Brown Mathematical Contest for Modeling, he taught a machine learning course, led a peer learning group, served as co-president of the Applied Math Undergraduate Group and was head of quantitative analysis for Brown Healthcare Investment Group. He is a software engineer at Amazon.
