Independence Day: FAITH Scholars Influencing their Communities

“I thank FAITH for supporting students who are trying to advance Hellenic ideals in the pursuit of knowledge and civic responsibility.”   - John Douveas, 2021 FAITH Scholar

Dear Founders and Friends,

As we prepare to celebrate Independence Day, in our July newsletter we are highlighting FAITH Scholars who are improving their campuses, communities, and our country through their outreach and service, good citizenship and embodiment of American ideals. From studying history, law and policy to encouraging civic engagement, these young people are finding ways to connect with others locally, nationally and internationally to champion causes important to them to ensure a brighter future for all.

We thank you for your continued support and wish you and your loved ones a
Happy Fourth of July!

Her other outreach efforts include donation drives, homeless shelters and a refugee camp in Chios, Greece. With a passion for advocacy and civic engagement, Despina aspires to be a diplomat.

In addition to the national holiday, July 4th will mark the consecration of St. Nicholas Church and Shrine at Ground Zero. As the lead benefactor, FAITH has granted over $18.7 million to support the rebuilding of St. Nicholas, which will be a beacon symbolizing the core values of our Greek Orthodox faith and Hellenism: love, respect, peace, healing, forgiveness and hope. The new St. Nicholas Church will be a National Shrine from which will emanate the ideals of Hellenism and Greek Orthodox Christian values that were passed down to us for our Nation and all of the world to see.
