Born in Stockton, California in 1959, Michael Spanos attended Lincoln High School and graduated from the University of the Pacific, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration.
Mr. Spanos, the younger son of Alex Spanos, is executive vice president of both the A.G. Spanos Companies and the San Diego Chargers. He joined the family construction business in 1981 when he graduated from college. He is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the construction, land development, and property management business. He often travels to all division and regional offices to oversee the progress of projects under construction, to give final approval for any land acquisitions, and to tend to all administrative matters.
Mr. Spanos became executive vice president of the Chargers in 1995. He joins his brother, President Dean Spanos, in steering the direction of the organization and the vision for a new stadium for the San Diego region.
In 1989, Mr. Spanos was appointed to the Board of Regents at the University of the Pacific, where he served for five years. He continues to contribute both his time and resources to the development of several projects involving youth sports and education. Mr. Spanos and his wife, Helen, reside with their five children in Stockton, California.
