Mr. Nicholas J. Bouras †

(1920 - 2013)

Mr. Bouras was born in Pontiac, Michigan and grew up in Chicago, Illinois. In 1942 he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corp and served for three years, eighteen of which were spent in combat in the European theater of operations. Mr. Bouras flew forty-four combat missions in B-26 and A-26 medium bomber as a lead bombardier and navigator until the end of the war in Europe. He was discharged with the rank of major and awarded the distinguished Flying Cross, eight air medals, and five battle stars.

In 1955, he graduated from Northwestern University School of Commerce in Evanston, Illinois. From 1940 to 1960 Mr. Bouras was employed with the United States Steel Corporation in manufacturing and sales. He left United States Steel Corporation in 1960 to start up in the steel construction field with his beloved wife, Anna K. Bouras.

Mr. Bouras was the owner and president of Bouras Industries, Inc. which consists of five operating companies, with four manufacturing operations in three states – New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and South Carolina. Bouras Industries, Inc. employs approximately 600 people.

Mr. Bouras was a founder of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox church in Westfield, NJ, where he served as President and Chairman of building committee for 33 years. He was a member for 20 years of both the Archdiocesan Council and The National Board of the Order to St. Andrew The Apostle.
