Born and raised in New York City, Peter Vlachos attended Stuyvesant High School and holds a B.A. in History, Government and Economics from Colby College.
In the 1950’s, during the cold war, Mr. Vlachos traveled the world as a sergeant in the United States Air Force Strategic Air Command, repairing advanced electronics. His interest in such gadgetry developed into today as he buys shares of communications and electronics companies for his $38.3 million mutual fund, Forum Austin Global Equity.
Mr. Vlachos joined Beck, Mack & Oliver LLC as a Managing Director in 2009. He has more than 51 years of experience in the investment industry. Prior to joining BM&O, Peter was the Founding Principal at Austin Investment Management, Inc. and Co-Portfolio Manager of the Fund since its inception in 1993. Before founding Austin in 1989, Peter was a Portfolio Manager at Neuberger & Berman, and was also President and Chief Investment Officer of the Dreyfus Leverage Fund.
Mr. Vlachos is the Treasurer of Faith Endowment and an ex-officio member of the Investment Committee. Mr. Vlachos is a Member of Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in New York City and Member of Greek Orthodox Archdiocesan Council. He is also a member of Leadership 100 and chairs its Investment Committee.
Mr. Vlachos is married to Dr. Susan Deakins and they have two children and four grandchildren
